Blackwater Ridge Donates $5,927.84 to Mountain Laurel Learning Cooperative
Donation to Support Facility Improvements and Early Childhood Scholarships
Tucker County, WV — Blackwater Ridge is pleased to announce a donation of $5,927.84 to Mountain Laurel Learning Cooperative, supporting critical facility improvements and expanding access to early childhood education through tuition scholarships.
The donation will help fund the replacement of ceiling tiles within Mountain Laurel’s facility and provide tuition scholarships for students in the Primary Classroom, which serves children ages three to five. The Primary Classroom is the foundation of Mountain Laurel’s Montessori Learning Center and plays a vital role in fostering independence, curiosity, and a lifelong love of learning at an early age.
Mountain Laurel Learning Cooperative operates under a Montessori-structured learning model, with an emphasis on hands-on, self-directed education and strong community values. A core principle of the program is teaching children the importance of working together toward shared goals while giving back to others.
“We strive to instill the essence of a strong community in our primary classroom and set the stage for building good community citizens starting at an early age,” said Amanda Hardee, Primary Classroom Assistant.
Blackwater Ridge’s contribution reflects its ongoing commitment to strengthening the social fabric of Tucker County by investing in our community and opportunities that support local families living and working here.
“Supporting organizations like Mountain Laurel Learning Cooperative aligns directly with our mission to enhance quality of life in our community,” said Blake Truman, CEO of Blackwater Ridge. “By investing in early childhood education and safe, welcoming learning environments, we help build a stronger future for Tucker County.”

About Mountain Laurel Learning Cooperative
Mountain Laurel’s Montessori Learning Center has been providing child care and homeschool support to families in the region for over 15 years. The program began as a cooperative of seven families in 2010 and incorporated as a non-profit education and child care organization in 2012. Mountain Laurel follows a Montessori-inspired approach across all programming and currently serves children ages three to twelve, employing ten regularly scheduled staff members along with several substitutes.
The Primary Classroom, serving children ages three to five, is the foundation of the Montessori Learning Center and focuses on fostering independence through self-directed, hands-on learning in a supportive, child-centered environment. Elementary classrooms build on this foundation by supporting children’s confidence and understanding of themselves, their society, and the world around them.
